Veil support
contact
Veil has no analytics. It cannot tell me what it missed — so if it missed something, please tell me. Everything that reaches me is an email you chose to send.
privacy
Detection, redaction and storage all happen on your iPhone. Veil has no accounts, no analytics and no server of its own, and your documents are never uploaded anywhere. The one thing it downloads is the on-device detection model and its updates.
The App Store handles payment, so Veil never sees it. If you use the feedback button, the email it opens contains a short prompt, whatever you write, and four lines about your setup: the Veil version, the iOS version, the device model and the detection engine in use. Nothing from your documents is in it, and nothing is sent until you press send.
This website is separate from the app: it counts page visits without cookies, and the website’s privacy page says exactly what that means.
questions
What does Veil guarantee, and what doesn’t it?
Veil finds personal details in a document and removes the ones you choose, entirely on the device. It does not guarantee that it found everything. Detection is assistive: the models and rules behind it can miss a detail, misread one, or flag something that is not sensitive at all. Review every proposed redaction on the document itself before you share it, because the result is only as complete as that review.
Redaction mode matters too. Secure flattens each page to an image, so removed content cannot be recovered from the file. Preserve formatting keeps the original layout, but covered text may still be extractable, which is why the app warns against it for highly sensitive documents. Veil is not legal advice, and redacting a document does not by itself meet any legal or compliance obligation. The full wording is in Settings, under Disclaimer.
Veil missed something. What should I do?
First, remove it by hand before you share: the review screen lists every detection alongside the full recognised text, so you can select a detail the model never flagged.
Then tell me. Tap “Something wasn’t detected?” on the review screen or in Settings, which opens a pre-filled email in your mail app, or write to rezabina.dev@gmail.com directly. Describe the kind of detail and the kind of document, for example “an account number on a US bank letter”. Please don’t paste the detail itself or attach the document; the description is enough to go on.
How do I restore my Veil Pro purchase?
Veil Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID, not to an account with me. On a new iPhone or after reinstalling, open Settings in Veil, tap Veil Pro, then tap Restore purchase. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID that bought it. If it still doesn’t unlock, email me and say roughly when you bought it; please don’t send receipts or Apple ID details.
Where are my documents stored?
Documents you save in Veil stay in its encrypted vault on that one iPhone. The key never leaves the device, and the vault is excluded from iCloud and computer backups on purpose. The trade-off is real: saved documents do not move to a new phone, and deleting Veil deletes them, with no copy anywhere that I or anyone else could recover. To keep a document long term, share it from Veil to Files or wherever you keep your documents.
